We know that water can be a big challenge, especially with droughts and the rising costs. Here are a few tips to help you grow vegetables with less water, keeping your crops healthy even when water is scarce:
- Use Mulch: Cover your soil with dried grass, leaves, or even newspaper. Mulch helps to keep the soil cool and reduces how fast water evaporates, so your plants stay hydrated for longer.
- Water Early or Late: Water your plants either early in the morning or late in the evening when it’s cooler. This way, less water will evaporate in the heat of the day.
- Collect Rainwater: If you can, set up a tank or a few buckets to collect rainwater. This water can be used for your crops, saving you money and helping during dry periods.
- Try Drip Irrigation: If you have a little extra to invest, drip irrigation can help you water each plant directly at the roots. It uses much less water than regular watering and keeps the plants healthy.
