Good afternoon, good people.
I want to share with you my story of how I left my job at an insurance company and ventured into farming. I hope it will inspire you to consider investing in agriculture, which is a lucrative and rewarding sector.
I started with two cows that produced 17 kilograms of milk per day. I sold the milk at 50 Kenyan shillings per liter, which gave me a decent income. After one year and two months, I had expanded my dairy farm to four cows, although I was only milking three of them at the moment.
From my vegetables, I make not less than 10,000 shillings per month, and from my poultry, I make like 5,000 shillings. That is a total of 85,000 shillings per month, which is more than what I used to earn in my previous job.

How I started
I worked in an insurance company for more than 10 years, but I was not satisfied with my career. I decided to quit my job in April last year and try something new. I had always been interested in farming, so I invested all my savings into it. It was not easy at first, but I was determined to make it work.I started with two cows that produced 17 kilograms of milk per day. What else I do
Besides dairy farming, I also engage in poultry and piggery, though not in large numbers. I raise chickens and pigs for meat and eggs, which I sell to my neighbors and local markets. I also grow vegetables such as sukuma wiki, spinach, and others, which I harvest regularly and sell as well. Horticulture helps me to earn some extra money in between the months. How much I earn
I can confidently say that farming has money. Those who are always asking where to invest, kindly consider farming. It is hectic but with some good returns. After doing my calculations, I make not less than 70,000 shillings per month from my cows, after deducting all the expenses. From my vegetables, I make not less than 10,000 shillings per month, and from my poultry, I make like 5,000 shillings. That is a total of 85,000 shillings per month, which is more than what I used to earn in my previous job.
My advice
Guys, let’s invest in farming. I am sure none of us will regret it. Farming is not only a source of income, but also a way of life. It gives me joy and satisfaction to see my crops and animals grow and thrive. It also helps me to contribute to food security and environmental conservation. Farming is the future, and I am proud to be a farmer.
